Truck Superprix

The Truck Superprix makes a welcome return to Brand in 2009, after two hugely successful meetings in 2008.

With close racing a certainty, its incredible and not widely known that a Racetruck is faster than a Porsche 911 to 100mph!!

Truck racing started in the early eighties with mainly road going trucks then participating; gradually over time this has changed to high performance vehicles but with obvious racing regulation - due to the sheer size and weight of these speedy six-wheelers - minimum weight limit is 5500kgs - right from the beginning of the sport a maximum speed limit of 100mph (160km/h) was enforced for safety reasons.

Racetrucks don’t compete with trailers attached, a question asked on so many occasions and with the 12-litre turbocharged diesel engines used by the majority of the field are tuned up to produce in excess of 1000 horsepower, which is more than double the output of even the most powerful road version. Combined with the vast torque figure of over 3000Nm, this gives the Racetrucks amazing straight-line performance.

Officially, Truck Racing is a non-contact formula, but the truth is that bumps, scrapes and exchanges of paintwork are a regular part of the action!

You too can get up close & personal with a race going truck during the weekends festivities; with the incredible display trucks being worthy of the journey alone!

Naturally there are many other support races (subject to confirmation) including Legends Car Championship, Pick Up Truck Racing Championship, Caterhams & Saloon Cars amongst many other attractions.
